Privacy Policy
For Hoop Twin. Last updated: 6 November 2026.
This policy explains what Hoop Twin does with your information. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, ask us at harfredlabs@gmail.com.
The short version
Hoop Twin reads your photo once to describe your visible style, then throws it away. We never store your photo, never make a face print, and never sell or share anything about you. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking.
Your photo
When you tap Find my twin, the app shrinks your photo (which also removes its location and camera details) and sends it over an encrypted connection to our server. Our server passes it once to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns a short list of visible style traits: hairstyle, hair colour, facial hair, eyewear, headwear, expression, overall vibe and a few extras such as visible tattoos or earrings.
- The photo is held in memory for that single request and then discarded. We do not save it, log it or keep a copy.
- The traits do not include skin tone, ethnicity, age or gender, and nothing in Hoop Twin recognises who you are. It is a style game, not facial recognition.
- Anthropic processes the photo for us as a service provider. Under its commercial terms, API inputs are not used to train its models. It may retain API data for a short period for safety and abuse monitoring before deleting it.
What stays on your device
Your history of twins (the player, the score, the matching traits and the date) is stored only on your device. Your photo is never part of it. You can delete a twin by swiping it, or delete them all in Settings. Deleting the app deletes the history.
What our server sees
Like any web server, ours receives your IP address, device type and the time of each request. We use it only to serve the app and to stop abuse (for example, limiting how many matches one address can make in an hour), and we do not use it to identify you. We also keep counts of anonymous events such as a match being made, with no identifier attached.
Service providers
- Google Cloud hosts the app and its server.
- Anthropic describes the style in your photo, as above.
- Apple and Google distribute the app.
These providers operate internationally, so a request may be processed in a country other than your own, including the United States.
Children
Hoop Twin is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used it, there is nothing stored about them to delete on our side; their history is only on their device.
Your rights
Because we keep nothing about you on our servers, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have a question or a request anyway, write to us and we will answer it.
Changes to this policy
If what Hoop Twin does with your information changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top moves.
